The Rwanda Parliament Retaining Wall Project was initiated to urgently address severe erosion and landslide risks caused by heavy rainfall on the slope adjacent to the Parliament. Located along the critical city center–airport road in Kigali, the unstable slope posed serious safety and infrastructure concerns.
L&F CONSULTANTS was appointed to provide full design services for the project, delivering a comprehensive engineering solution within a tight four-month timeline. Their scope included structural and infrastructure design, geotechnical analysis, drainage planning, and landscape architecture. At the heart of the design was a Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) retaining wall, engineered for long-term stability and tailored to the site’s challenging conditions.
In addition to the structural solution, L&F CONSULTANTS designed the surrounding landscape to enhance both aesthetics and environmental resilience, ensuring the wall integrated seamlessly into its high-profile setting. The completed design not only stabilizes a critical slope but also showcases L&F’s ability to deliver high-quality, multidisciplinary solutions under pressure.
